Dwarkadhish Gopal Mandir, situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India, is the city's second-largest temple. It features a two-foot-tall idol of Lord Krishna made of silver-coated marble. The temple is renowned for its grand celebration of "Harihar Ka Parv," symbolizing the union of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva during Janmashtami.
Dating back nearly two hundred years, Dwarkadhish Gopal Mandir's construction began in 1844 under Maharani Baiza Bai Shinde's patronage, consort of Daulatrao Scindia. The temple's grandeur attracts pilgrims, especially during the Simhastha (Kumbh Mela) festival, who find solace in its vast courtyard.
Exemplifying Maratha architecture, the temple's sanctum is sculpted from marble and adorned with silver-decorated doors. It houses idols of Lord Dwarkadhish, Lord Shankar, Goddess Parvati, Lord Garuda, and a statue of Rani Baiza Bai. Noteworthy are the gem-encrusted doors acquired from Ghazni by Daulatrao Scindia.
During Krishna Janmashtami, Dwarkadhish Gopal Mandir observes a unique tradition of abstaining from the regular evening Aarti for five days post-Krishna's birth, symbolizing Lord Krishna's continuous vigilance.
Devotees present regular offerings of milk, butter, and other items, alongside Sooji halwa and Panchamrit, to Lord Krishna as an expression of their faith.
Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore, approximately 60 kilometers away, offers convenient transport options via buses or auto-rickshaws to reach the temple.
Ujjain Railway Station, a mere 2.5 kilometers from Dwarkadhish Gopal Mandir, facilitates easy access through buses or auto-rickshaw
Located just 2 kilometers from Ujjain Malipura Bus Stand, the temple is easily reachable via regular bus services operated by the state transport corporation and private buses from various cities and towns in Madhya Pradesh.
