Bijasan Mata Mandir

Nestled in the serene hills near the airport road of the Indore district in Madhya Pradesh, Bijasan Mata Mandir stands as a timeless sanctuary of devotion. Bijasan Mata Temple traces its origins back to 1760 when it was established by the Holkar king, Shivaji Rao Holkar. Legend has it that the idol of Goddess Bijasan, enshrined within the temple, is over 1,000 years old. The temple commemorated its centenary in 1860 with a grand celebration, marking a significant milestone in its storied history. Over the years, the temple has undergone periodic restoration and renovation, preserving its sanctity for generations to come.

Crafted with meticulous skill and devotion, the original temple structure was fashioned from mud and stones. In 1920, it underwent a transformation, embracing the Maratha style of architecture during renovation. Alongside the Goddess, the temple precincts house idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Kal Bhairava. A tranquil pond adjacent to the temple serves as a serene habitat for colorful fishes, with local lore recounting the occasional visit of a benign lion quenching its thirst without harming anyone.

Within the temple precincts lie ancient 'pinds' of Bijasan Mata, their origins shrouded in mystery and myth. Devotees believe that these sacred relics manifested spontaneously, symbolizing the deity's divine presence. Bijasan Mata is revered as the bestower of parental bliss and eternal fortune, drawing newlywed couples seeking her blessings for marital harmony and prosperity. The temple also holds significance among believers of tantra-mantra and Siddhi, with tales recounting instances of divine intervention and benevolence.

Devotees present offerings of laddoo, peda, chickpeas (chana), and chironjee to the Goddess at Bijasan Mata Temple. Additionally, the deity is adorned with flower-made garlands and chunari as symbols of reverence and devotion.
